Engagement sessions are about so much more than just photos, they’re a chance to slow down, have fun together, and get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day. Kylee and Joseph’s late summer engagement session in East Spokane was the perfect example of what engagement photos are meant to be: relaxed, meaningful, and completely unique to the couple.

Set in a golden field just outside of Spokane, their session captured not only beautiful light, but this exact season of life, the fun, extra romantic and lighthearted period of being engaged.

Why Engagement Photos Matter
One of the biggest benefits of engagement photos is the opportunity to practice being photographed in a low-pressure environment. For many couples, this is their first time having professional photos taken together.
Engagement sessions allow couples to:
- get comfortable in front of the camera
- learn how I do posing and how the more formal photos during the big day will feel
- build trust with your photographer
- and capture this once-in-a-lifetime season before it passes
By the time Kylee and Joseph walk into their wedding day, being photographed together will feel familiar, comfortable, and fun, absolutely NOT intimidating.

An Outdoors-Loving Couple
Kylee and Joseph have been together for three and a half years, and their relationship has always been rooted in the outdoors. They love spending time at the lake, camping, and fishing, and Joseph even taught Kylee how to fly fish!
Joseph has always been deeply connected to outdoor life. He hunts and works on a cattle ranch, and that lifestyle naturally shaped the feel of their engagement session.
When thinking about a location, Kylee envisioned a beautiful open field — wheat or flowers — and wasn’t picky beyond that. She also shared that they’d never had professional photos taken before and simply wanted beautiful images of the two, well three, of them.

A Late Summer Field Engagement Session in East Spokane
East Spokane offers some of the most beautiful and understated engagement photo locations — especially in late summer. Tall grass, wide open skies, and warm golden light create a setting that feels peaceful and timeless.
We chose a quiet field where Kylee and Joseph could move naturally, laugh, talk, and enjoy being together without distractions. All my engagement sessions intentionally relaxed, allowing them to focus on each other rather than the camera. We do fun, flowy poses, and sprinkle in a couple more traditional poses to get you photos that are usable and print amazing!

Fun, Comfortable, and True to Them
Engagement photos should never feel stiff or overly posed. Kylee and Joseph’s session focused on movement, connection, and comfort, walking through the field, holding hands, sharing quiet moments, and letting the light do the rest.
Because this was their first professional photo experience, everything was approached gently and intentionally. The result is a gallery that feels natural, warm, and true to who they are, not a performance, just a reflection of their relationship.

Capturing This Season of Being Engaged
The engagement season is short. It’s a unique chapter filled with anticipation, excitement, and dreaming about what’s next. Engagement photos freeze this moment in time — before the wedding day arrives and life shifts into a new rhythm.
Kylee and Joseph’s Spokane engagement session wasn’t just about creating images for their wedding website or save-the-dates, it was about documenting who they are right now, in this season, together.
Kylee & Joseph, thank you for trusting me with your engagement photos. Your session was a beautiful reminder that the best engagement photos are the ones that feel like you.
