There is something so magical about photographing a gender reveal, the anticipation, the excitement, the surprise of getting to capture all the feelings and emotions knowing a sweet family is finding out a bit more about who their baby will be. And when you pair that with the romantic blooms of the Manito Park Rose Garden, it becomes a moment straight out of a dream.

Recently, I had the sweetest session with this beautiful Spokane family, celebrating their growing family with a gender reveal photoshoot surrounded by the most vibrant roses. As a Spokane photographer, Manito Park is one of my favorite places for family, maternity, and gender reveal sessions because every corner feels like a whimsical garden.

The Perfect Setting for a Spokane Gender Reveal

Manito Park in the summer is breathtaking. The roses are in full bloom, filling the entire garden with color and soft fragrance. So when they reached out, I knew the perfect spot for a gender reveal, and we planned for right in front of this pergola before anyone knew the gender. Talk about fate! The blooms helped the moment feel intimate, joyful, and absolutely overflowing with love. AND, talk about perfect, pink roses for their baby girl!

We set up a small picnic-inspired space with cozy textures and simple details, allowing the roses to naturally frame the moment. The pillows, vase, picnic basket, and blanket all came from my client closet, which has more than clothes! The food helped create a fun photoshoot, and helped get their son excited too!

Now, the Gender Reveal!

One of my favorite things about gender reveal photoshoots is documenting the emotions as they unfold naturally. I love documentary photography, but definitely think there is a place and time for it, a gender reveal absolutely being one of them! The key for documentary photography is experience, and knowing when to take a photo! That’s why you want to hire an experienced photographer for big life moments like these!

The second they opened the box, Mom’s face lit up with surprise and joy, Dad couldn’t stop smiling, and big brother’s excitement was everything. It was such a sweet moment, authentic, unposed, and full of real reactions. And, they had no clue it was a girl, mom and dad both thought baby was a boy!

These are exactly the types of memories families will look back on years from now, and I love being able to capture them in a warm, timeless way.
