There is nothing quite like walking into a hospital room just hours after a baby is born. The world feels softer, time slows, and a brand new little life is wrapped tightly in hospital blankets, learning the sound of their parents’ voices for the very first time. It’s calm, even heavenly.
This Fresh 48 session at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane was full of that quiet magic. Baby boy’s tiny toes, the soft wrinkled fingers, the sweetest family, everything about this session was tender, emotional, and overflowing with love.
But the best part? The joy of watching a big sister get to know her baby brother for the very first time.

A Calm, Beautiful Morning at Sacred Heart Hospital
Sacred Heart Hospital is such an ideal place for Fresh 48 photography. The rooms have gorgeous natural light that creates soft, clean, true to life photographs, exactly the style I love for newborns.
We started with those gentle, quiet newborn details, curled-up toes, hospital bracelets, flaky newborn skin, and those sleepy baby expressions every parent wants to remember forever.
From there, we moved into family photos. As mom said herself, getting a toddler to smile AND look at the camera is “no small feat,” but she absolutely shined during this session. Her joy was contagious. And my favorite thing about photographing a baby with siblings, is seeing the adoration and love they have for their sibling already, how every time baby hears a siblings voice, they turn, how they relax when they are close!

A Sweet First Meeting Between Siblings
One of my favorite parts of Fresh 48 sessions is watching siblings meet the new baby. Some are nervous, some are shy, some are excited. This little girl welcomed her brother with open arms, literally and emotionally, she tucked her arms around him with the biggest proud sister smile. Those are the moments families cherish forever.
These small interactions are exactly why Fresh 48 photography is so meaningful, not only does it highlight all the hospital, birth, and first moments, it preserves the REAL emotions of your new family’s very first hours all together.

What the Family Had to Say
I absolutely loved photographing this family, and their kind words mean so much:
“Elizabeth photographed our family for a Fresh 48 session. She was so patient and paid attention to detail. My toddler is actually smiling and looking at the camera (which toddler moms know is no small feat). The turn-around time was so fast with tasteful editing. We are so happy with our first pictures as a family. We will absolutely use her again in the future!”
Hearing feedback like this reminds me exactly why I do what I do, these early moments are irreplaceable.

Why Spokane Families Love Fresh 48 Sessions
Fresh 48 photography is perfect for families who want the emotions of birth photography without having a photographer present during labor. These sessions,
- Capture your baby in their first 24–48 hours
- Document tiny newborn details before they change (and they change so much, even in those first few days)
- Include parents, siblings, and simple lifestyle posing
- Are relaxed, calm, and family led, I typically spend no more than 40 minutes here
- Take place right in your hospital room (Sacred Heart, Deaconess, Spokane Valley, etc.)
These photos become motherhood heirlooms, because they capture the essence of the first few moments with a new piece of your heart. They retell the tory of your labor, and all the things that matter so much to us as mothers. They capture siblings meeting their best friend for life, they capture a family becoming whole, and they tell a story of your, mom, strength and love.
